Toxicated Keys

Mamelodi East, Pretoria, South Africa · Rough amapiano (rough musiQ)

Hailing from the township of Mamelodi East, in Pretoria, Phadishi Mokwele and Thabang Makhafola are two very young music producers (20 and 21). These last years, they’ve been building a new style of Amapiano with their friends GemValleyMusiQ. They call their sound Rough Amapiano, their own take on the now hugely successful Amapiano South-African genre. Rough Amapiano drops the classic soulful tone and cozy synths of Amapiano in favor of rougher, occasionally erratic and arhythmic drum rhythms and percussive, toxic-sounding basslines. It’s coming from the future, and this is now out on PSSNGR, always dedicated to promote emerging African electronic music.
